Of all pests in the world, bed bugs are among the worst. The thought of the tiny pests in your home can send your skin crawling. Your mind may go into a frenzy thinking of ways to get rid of them. Luckily, the solution can be simple and is available at your nearest retailer. Efekto Fumitabs help you clear out your home from nasty bed bugs and other pests. Let’s investigate how this bed bug treatment works and what you can expect on fumigation day.
Where do I begin with bed bug treatment?
Their bodies are flat and oval-shaped. Bed bugs feed on blood and can survive up to a year with little to no food. To stop these tiny pests from making themselves at home in your bedding there is a lot of information to learn.
Identify bed bugs
While cleaning or changing bedding, there are some signs you should be on the lookout for to spot bed bugs. These include:
- Rusty stains on sheets
- Shed bed bug skin

How do bed bugs spread?
Homeowners can go from having a bed bug-free house one day to having a significant problem the next. These small pests are masters of hitching a ride from one object to another. Bed bugs like to travel by hiding in objects like purses, backpacks, clothing or luggage. This makes travel from room to room, or in some cases, house to house, easy for the small bugs.
At this point, you would have identified whether you have a bed bug infestation or not. If so, then it is fumigation time.
Efekto Fumitabs are an easy-to-use solution to getting rid of your bed bug problem. There are, however, some important steps involved. Before starting your bed bug treatment, you need to:
- Remove pets
- Remove food
- Remove household plants
- Strip beds of sheets
- Turn off gas flames and pilot lights
- Open all hiding places, such as wardrobes, cupboards and interior doors
- Cover appliances
- Cover fish tanks
- Close all windows, external doors and ventilators
Starting the bed bug treatment
After completing all the above steps, you can start with your fumigation process. For the best results, choose to do your fumigation during hours when bed bugs are most active. This would be between 8 pm – 12 pm.
Use 1 tablet per 27 m3 (3x3x3 meter) of space. Place the Efekto Fumitab on a brick inside your home. Light the tablet and blow out the flame that may form. This is a very important step. If you do not blow out the flame, you risk starting a fire inside your house. Wash your hands with soap and water after handling the tablet. Exit the building and keep the doors and windows closed for 3 – 4 hours.
After 4 hours, ventilate the area well for another 3 – 4 hours. During this time, do not re-occupy the premises. Only once the smoke has completely disappeared may you re-enter your home.
Repeat this bed bug treatment about 2 weeks after the first treatment. This is to control the next generation of bed bugs from finding their beloved hiding places in your bed.
To note: Each Efekto Fumitab tablet produces a cloud of smoke that lifts the insecticide, depositing it in all corners and cracks in the treated space, covering the most inaccessible locations. Its action is immediate and effective. It’s best practice to follow up the bed bug treatment with a residual surface spray insecticide like Efekto’s No Insect Indoors NF Fleas & Bed bugs RTU. Spraying this type of insecticide will kill insects on contact or by means of ingestion.
- Spray surfaces where you notice bed bugs.
- Repeat the spray whenever necessary.
- Treat the areas where bed bugs are a problem.
