A selective concentrate bait for control of fruit fly species infesting various fruit and cucurbits. Suitable for use in organic crop production.

Crop/disease

  • Crop: Citrus, mangoes, guavas, apricots, nectarines, peaches, plums, apples, pears, table grapes, avocados and litchis
  • Disease: Mediterranean Fruit Fly ( Ceratitis capitata), Natal Fruit Fly (Ceratitis rosa), Marula Fruit Fly (Ceratitis cosyra), Olives Olive fly ( Bactrocera oleae), Cucurbits Pumkin flies (Dacus spp.)
    • 50 ml GF 120 in 400 ml water
    • Apply GF 120 as coarse droplets with a sprayer or paint brush (approx. 1 – 4 mm droplets on bearing fruit crops and 4 – 6 mm droplets on non-fruit bearing trees and shrubs)
    • Apply a total volume of 60 m of bait mixture per tree
    • Use higher dosage rate when infestation was severe in previous season
    • Apply in a band approximately one meter above ground level to at least one side of a tree
    • Treat susceptible border plants
    • Apply GF 120 as coarse droplets (approximately 1-4 mm in size) on bearing plants
    • Apply a total of 100 m bait mixture per 50 m² as spot treatments at a rate of 50 m per spot
    • Use a sprayer or brush to meet the application criteria
    • Also treat trees, vineyards as well as border plants susceptible to fruit fly attack in the vicinity of cucurbit plants

Warnings

  • Use only as directed
  • Withholding period – minimum time between last application and harvest
    • All crops 1 day
    • Handle with care
    • May cause slight eye irritation
    • This product is moderately toxic to fish and toxic to aquatic invertebrates
    • Do not apply directly to open water

 

Beneficial insects

  • “Relatively harmless to bees” GF 120 is relatively safe for contact with bees
  • GF-120 releases an ammoniac type compound which attracts fruitflies but is repellent to bees. It is there for highly unlikely that bees will be attracted and killed by the bait.
  • Notwithstanding, do not apply directly to foraging bees, or bee colonies
  • GF 120 is relatively harmless to beneficial insects such as parasites, predatory mites, coccinellidae and neuroptera
  • Store in a cool and dry place, away from food and feedstuffs
  • Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals
  • Precautions prevent freezing
  • Store in the original labeled container only
  • Avoid inhalation of spray mist
  • Wash with soap and water after use or accidental skin contact
  • Wear gloves and face shield when handling
  • Avoid contamination of skin and eyes
  • In case of accidental contact with eyes, wash with running water for at least 15 minutes
  • Get medical attention if irritation persists
  • Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst mixing or applying
  • Wash hands and face before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet
  • Avoid spray drift onto adjacent plants, ponds and rivers
  • Clean applicators before using for other remedies and dispose of wash water where it will not contaminate crops, ponds and rivers
  • Dispose of empty containers by first rinsing them and then put them into the refuse bin
  • Prevent contamination of food, feedstuffs, drinking water and eating utensils during handling, storage or disposal
